911 call reveals frantic effort to save Bode Miller's daughter

2018-06-13T03:40:00+0000

As the minutes tick off, the man swears as he asks where the ambulance is.

A woman frantically asked an emergency dispatcher to coach her on how to perform CPR during a 911 call as she and others desperately struggle in vain to save the life of Olympic skier Bode Miller's daughter after the toddler fell into a swimming pool.

Southern California Dachshund Relief Inc.

It is with a very heavy heart that we post this final update on Walter (4426), the 18 year old dachshund who was abandoned in broad daylight in the parking lot outside the PetSmart in Whittier. (We want to thank for vets at the Banfield in the PetSmart for giving food and comfort to Walter while he waited for SCDR's representative to arrive to take him into rescue, as well as the staff at PetSmart for snatching him out of the parking lot before he could be injured or killed.)

Walter received the best care possible at Sunny Hills Animal Hospital and was able to come home one week ago. He spent the past week enjoying the amenities of our home and the comradery of his fellow dachshunds. He was doing everything we expected - eating, drinking water, and sleeping a lot.

But as the week progressed, Walter ate less and less, and we had to syringe water into his mouth every hour to keep him from dehydrating. It was painfully obvious his body was shutting down, and he no longer had any real quality of life.

This afternoon the staff at Sunny Hills and I let Walter make his final journey over Rainbow Bridge. Our hearts are sad for our loss, but happy we were able to make Walter's last week on Earth one of joy, comfort, and love. Rest in Peace sweet boy. You will always be with us in spirit. ...

Harley (4373) and Bailey (4374) are adopted!! They arrived in rescue on April 3rd. Harley is 14 years old and the father of Bailey who is 5 years old. The boys were very bonded and we knew it was going to be hard to find a home that wanted both of them. But our patience paid off. When we receive the application from Cheryl and daughter, Allison, they did not have any particular dog in mind, but needed a companion for their senior red longhair, Bella. We suggested Bailey and Harley, and Cheryl thought it was a fabulous idea.

The boys met their new moms with great joy and enthusiasm. Allison squealed with delight as she reached for them. They responded like they'd known her all their lives. There was lots of wagging and happy faces. Bella, took a "wait-and-see" approach to the boys, shyly hiding behind Cheryl's legs and coming out briefly to snip their butts. She must have found them to be acceptable, as she settled down and didn't give the boys a second thought.

Here are Allison with Bailey, Bella, and Cheryl with Harley. The fun is about to begin. Please join us in wishing them a long and happy life together. ...

Introducing Bosley (4436), a 2 year old chocolate dapple piebald. Sadly, Bosley came to us from the Veterinary Emergency Clinic in Poway, CA, last night at midnight. (Yes, we actually met with the vet tech at the stroke of midnight in Irvine to take Bosley into our rescue program.) Bosley was brought to the ER by his people after suffering a serious leg fracture of his rear right femur. (See x-ray.) We think he was hit by a car.

We brought Bosley to Sunny Hills Animal Hospital this morning for evaluation by Dr. Howe, and surgery to fix the brake. She will determine if Bosley needs an orthopedic surgeon, or if Dr. Sam (at Ambassador Veterinary Hospital in Long Beach) can do the necessary repairs.

Please keep Bosley in your prayers. He is such a beautiful boy, both inside and outside. Updates to follow as we get more information. ...

Will be there in spirit as I am far away. Wish I could see all those little Doxies. Have fun and hopefully the adoptable ones will all find a furever home.

We have a really nice story for you with a happy ending.

On Saturday, we received a call from a Good Samaritan who found a senior standard female dachshund running in the street in Santa Fe Springs. She had a mobile grooming business and delivered the dog to us after she had given her a bath, trimmed her nails, etc. A huge thank you to Carol Castro of the Lazy Daisy Mobile Pet Spa for helping this dog.

We decided to call the dog Bunny, but later found out her name was Greta. Early this morning, the phone rang and a young man inquired if we had taken in any dachshunds over the weekend. He told us his mother's dog had escaped the yard when the gate was left open to back a boat and trailer in.

Bunny/Greta spent the weekend as a foster dog with SCDR. She was previously microchipped, but it was not registered to anyone. We contacted Annette, the young man's mother, and asked if she would like to come down and identify her dog. Within minutes she was at our location and was enjoying a wonderful reunion with her Greta.

We explained to Annette how to register the microchip (gave her some paperwork to send to the company), and encouraged her to stop at the pet supply store to have an I.D. tag made with her name and phone number to put with the rescue tag and collar we gave Greta.

Here is Annette and her beloved Greta, celebrating their reunion.

Well Little Miss Gretta had quite a weekend she went to the beauty parlor and checked into a hotel for the weekend ! Lol Glad she is safe and back home. All you locals should get your pups to that mobile groomer what a sweetheart. As always Thank you for keeping her safe at your wonderful rescue!

A wonderful look of relief on mommas face. Love happy reunions.

Those little wieners love to escape back yards when a gate is open! Luckily this story had a very happy and grateful ending. Thank you for your help!

What a lovely dog and a wonderful end to the story.
Greta, don't ever do that again!!!❤️

What a little doll!

I feel like Greta needs to write a book titled..."Greta's Day Out" where she goes on & on about all the wonderful people she met throughout the day at each way station, how they treated her, what type and how many treats she received, etc. What a wonderful story...glad to hear she made it back home safely! So many loose dogs, DON'T!

I just love happy endings. She is so beautiful

Love Happy Endings 💕

Happy story! I just left Carol and Lazy Daisy a 5 star yelp review! I recommend it!

What a great story!

Yay! I love Happy endings!

they both look so happy and bless you for giving her up. I know how hard it would be. The groomer is to be thanked too. what a great group of people you are. god bless

Nice... looks elegant!

Good job again guys but please consider in repainting the roof itself cause there is so much rust already., that way it will prevent from more further damage and expenses as well.

FairFax 1 ,6F yong amoy ng basura sa may Elevator, please do something.

Please consider of re-painting all Tower buildings itself like what they are doing now at San Francisco Garden. Also in the future to also consider in puting up a drainage system around the pool area to prevent dust and dirts going directly to the pool. Good job guys and keep it up.

Hopefully Pati henessy T1 lalo na elevator

Good job... I hope that you will also fix the hallway windows. Like those on the 16th floor of Burbank 2. They used plywood and not glass to replace the broken windows... Nakakahiya sa mga visitors... haha... I hope those are just temporary.

Hi, kailan ninyo po gawin sa Glenhaven 14F po. Im waiting ulmost 3yrs. Na po that will fix it. Thank you

Nice! Hope they change the vinyl tiles also para malinis na tingnan!

Very good!!! Kelan ang schedule ng fairfax? Pati ang flooring isama nyo na dahil tanggal na rin ang mga Vinyl ....

Wow about time 😎🙌🏼👍👏🏻

Good news!

Good. About time

how about Henessy???

good job, hope you will continue repairing, repainting hallways of all Towers. Please consider also of repainting all of our roofs and tower buildings itself. most of the paints are already faded.keep it up and again, good job.

Dianne Cielo

Lahat po ng towers ay nkaplan na irepaint.nkaprogram na po yan. Ung vinyl per floor is also under repairs.also lobby upgrade.with your support magagawa po yan.

Finally! The hallways are no longer presentable and good on the eyesight. It’s about time it has to be done. 🤗

Kelan kaya ang schedule ng Fairfax 1? Mag replace din ba ng vinyl tiles?

Yey! Thanks! The doors are include also ?

Hope you will also do el dorado. Saka i think its time to change the vinyl tiles. Thanks!

Wow.. nice keep it up 👍🏻👍🏻

Suggest ko lang mas maganda tingnan pag ang hallway walang nakikitang doormat.

Great! I hope they'll also do that with Fairfax. Pansin ko lang, sa lahat ng Towers, parang Fairfax ang napabayaan. Lobby palang, jusko.

How about FairFax 1,2 and 3?

Admin- base on residents input, assess nyo ano dapat unahin..

Not sure kung feasible para mas presentable naman - tiles and a modern designed walls. And for transparency, please include the project cost on all future projects

Its about time. Sana tuloy-tuloy na.

Pati yung ilaw papalitan po ?

Hi Engr. Jeff! Glad to know that you are undertaking a facelift for the common areas of all the towers.
Since Glenhaven Tower 1 is the very first tower I noticed it is the one that needs the most renovation eapecially the lobby and the hallways. The furniture and the layout of our lobby was most neglected and overlooked. Hope you give all tower lobbies a presentable look befitting the image of CGS. Thank you very much.

assn dues are working 😜😛

This is great!
