Artist Seth Tane, who lives in Portland, Ore., loaded up his "rolling studio van" with paintings, his bicycle and equipment he'd need, and drove down to San Francisco for the Thursday, May 10, opening of his "Seth Tane: Trading Places" show at the Modernism Gallery.

I spent a year of my life up there working at the Giant Forrest Cafe and hanging out at the Fireside Inn. Met some great people there. And then others who asked the location of the really big trees like the General Grant tree was somehow inadequate? Ha!

Was this picture taken in front of the Cedar Grove hotel?

Chris Greene mapping trails bro could be good experience

Our planet was once all beautiful, and unspoiled, but NO! Some people just want to bring as many kids as they want, so those who have brought more than 2 kids, have caused massive population growth, that leads into more and more destruction and developments that is destroying nature and true face of the earth. It is mathematically proven that bringing more than 2 kids causes an increase in human populations, the world population soon to reach 8 billion and to mention how massively its still growing, more than 200,000 people per day (after death).
So I wonder how long will all these beautiful places survive and last against the careless, ignorant, selfish, senseless, reckless and EVIL human population growth that also leads to animals and plants extinctions.
Those people that don't agree with me are not worthy of these beautiful places.

One of the most beautiful places in the world

I'd like to volunteer but I'm in l.a 😔

This looks like visitors taking in Kings Canyon at Zumwalt Meadow, doesn't it? Well, this time it's some of our seasonal park rangers, in training. (That's a great job to have, isn't it?)

Come meet our new park rangers at visitor centers in the parks. There are free programs currently being offered, and as the summer season heats up, we'll be adding more programs to share these awesome parks with you.

We loved Sequoia and Kings Canyon when we were there last June, most amazing trees we've ever seen

Perfect spot for a house

Livin' the dream baby!

Loved working as a seasonal in Cedar Grove in 2009.

My folks are on their way. Be there in a couple days. Told them to do this trail!

I burned that meadow twice in the 90’s while on the fire crew in Cedar Grove. It grew back lusher each year. Good times!

Just at Zumwalt last week and it was breathtaking. Can't wait to visit again. Park rangers deserve our thanks for the great job they do. Armadillo Tails

My sanctuary. My heaven. My peace. Zumwalt 😍😍

Anyone know if there is still snow?

I will see you soon

The hulls are high in both protein and fiber. Made into a shake they have the aroma and a light flavor of almonds. But be warned, while the hulls (analogous to the flesh of peaches) might make for great cattle food. That shake will result in three days of explosive diarrhea. So unless you are hopelessly constipated, leave the hulls for our bovine friends.

(Almond wood makes fantastic fuel for barbecue smokers!)

The warming season can find some of us eager to make our way into the backcountry of Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks. Spring is a beautiful time to experience the mountains but it can also be the most hazardous. High water from snowmelt is the most common danger encountered by our visitors and conditions can fluctuate in a matter of hours. This photo of Buck Creek from spring 2017 illustrates the difference in water flow in the morning(left) or afternoon(right). Consider timing an attempt at significant creek crossings for the morning, when levels are lowest and be aware of the possibility that a creek crossed when low could be dangerously high on a return trip. Remember to use good judgment in the wilderness and don't be afraid to change plans and turn back if conditions are unsafe.

Can anyone confirm whether or not the road to Big Meadows campground is open? I cannot find the information anywhere !

Cant wait to come back in July Home away from home. (2 wks every year)

Love this suicide plank. Devilish design. I’ve seen it like this in August as well.

Is the water level increased in the afternoon due to more snow melting over the day compared to the night? It's a little unintuitive for me that this is the main driver? Can you elaborate on that?

The spectacular foothill yuccas are in bloom now. It takes about 4-7 years for a plant to reach maturity and bloom. Producing this large flowering stalk can take 2-3 weeks. This is the last hurrah for the plant - it dies after it finishes blooming. Sometimes it sprouts clones from its base as another way of producing a new plant. The park protects important low elevation habitats for a variety of foothill plants and animals.

Almond trees grow more than the nutritious snack we love! They actually provide four valuable products – the kernel we love to eat, the hulls and shells surrounding the nut and the tree itself! And almond farmers have been putting these co-products to good use. Now, we’re working with U.S. Department of Agriculture researchers to explore even more innovative ways to recycle.

ATTN:
More people should know how amazing recycling almonds are for the environment. ...

Except that a single almond requires more water to grow than a half acre of wheat. In a state that has already destroyed Colorado from water theft, anhililated delicate ecosystems from damming up rivers, and polluted waterways from runoff just so some Hipsters can come to SFO and talk about how "beautiful" it is. California is the perfect example of man made ecological disaster.

Um please let’s not do this and send everyone into anaphylaxis because almonds would then be in everything...

Jessica Stepp oh the valley. How I miss you. Lol. I remember as a kid in the summers I would ride my bike to all the farms and eat fruit. Peaches, strawberry, blueberries, and nuts to. Almonds, walnuts. What I didn’t realize as a kid was that I was stealing. 😔

probably not to mention about a 50 to 80% loss and energy in what you're doing, but that's the California way of thinking, we can spend $200 to make $100 in return

Not to mention the fact that watering almond orchards uses a large percentage of the water supply in california because we are one of the top producers of almonds in the country/world.

Almonds are also huge water consumers...🙄
"...fuels more sustainable," that is true when they say 'more' sustainable but biofuels aren't sustainable when compared to renewables; don't mean to attack your industry but just clearing up the lingo for peeps.

don't be fooled, we use every part of this by product the shells are ground down to use for hand cleaner in industry!

What about all the pesticides constantly being sprayed on the almond trees? There are allergies and cancer galore in the central valley. My parents have to leave seasonally. Do we really need to spread that around?

They feed a lot of it to cows. The husks of the almonds is really good protein for them

So I hope we're doing this and not just talking about it

Don't forget milking them little buggers. Supply milk to folks who can't afford a cow. Or live in California

Waste of water.

California got a long ways of good Todo lol

Too bitter?
There is no such thing

I learned something new thank you

Learned something new, thanks!

This is awesome.

Very interesting!
