Why are people mad at this? Do yall want Jimmy G. To get killed before he throws a pass. I swear some of yall dont know football and are only looking for flash. Wide receiver is deep this year. 49ers can still get Anthony Miller, courtland sutton, or equanimeous st.brown

There comes a time when you have to draft to fortify the offensive or defensive lines. That’s where games are won or lost!! Get with it fans. We have a great team here watch!

apparently people don't want to protect the franchise quarterback. smh

Good player but terrible pick at #9. He’s gonna start at right tackle? Cool. We spent a top 10 pick on a potential right tackle. Not great. And especially not great at left tackle. Where you spend a the money. He’s a good player but not a good pick for the 49ers at #9. Lots of needs on defense, especially the secondary and linebacker.

Why on earth do you draft O line in the 1st round. That fool aint Larry Allen! This regime is hella soft.

Everyone hates it now but a year from now when Jimmy G is still standing straight they won't be saying nothing

Seriously!! People are crazy if they think this is a bad pick, this is a need!

Now go out and draft USC's 'home Run" hitter Ronald Jones (Texas Tesla) out of USC on day two to run to daylight behind him! www.youtube.com/watch?v=RmjOMfd8xJk

We need to move up and either grab Courtland Sutton or Joshua Jackson.

Get Isaiah Oliver and Courtland Sutton!

How old is he?

You protect your QB or nothing else matters as long as your QB stays healthy your team stays in the game. Remember you build around your QB

We have quarterback
Jimmy G needs protection!

Nobody saying Don't protect Jimmy, it just hard to play 3 O Tackles at a time. Can't always slide one in to guard , where our weakness is. Now if Brown out of the picture, or there is an injury then, yes it makes more sense.

For you guys complaining- watch the film of sacks allowed and count how many Trent Brown let in. That should be enough to convince you

I like the idea of protection for Jimmy G, but in the second round I'd appreciate going after the WR from Florida.

The Niners have to improve their offensive lines’ performance this year especially or Donald and Suh are gonna throw us all over the field!!

How do you not take Minkah? Sherman and ahkello are no sure thing. Terrible pick imo

BEAST

i like the pick i bet jimmy g will to

Now for a trade up for Landry or Josh Jackson in round 2 and hopefully D.J. Chark in round 3

On day 2 I think we need to snag up a wr and a edge

Joey, Richburg & McGlinchey in one line?

Sounds good to me👌🏻

#GoNiners❤

Next 2 seasons will tell truth for this project pick.

I like the pick protect our qb I’m not mad at them for that now get defense and some wr

Whenever I question a move that Lynch and Shanahan make, I try to think what Trent Baalke would do. Lol. I trust the process with these 2.

Waiting on these niner nation comments😂😂😂😂

Be better than John Lynchs last 1st round pick.

Welcome to the Niner Nation!!! #foreverfaithful

No one's getting by this guy.

#1 GRADED TACKLE. A NEED! If you don’t like this pick, it’s simply because it’s not your typical sexy pick. But lets be honest, jimmy is our investment and you need to protect him. Games are consistently won in the trenches. We just picked up Richburg and Cooper who are studs, just needs to stay healthy and now this stud. Brown might be on the trade block and Staley has 1-2 years left, so this was a perfect pick. I love it.

YES I AGREE A BAD CHOICE AN JOHN LYNCH AN KYLE SHANAHAN GOT AN F TERRIBLE CHOICE !!!!! MY NIGHT IS RUINED OVER THIS TERRIBLE SELECTION !!;;

Don’t forget when we selected Anthony Davis #11 and Mike Iupati #17 in 2010...Don’t have to mention what that resulted in, maybe playoffs 3 years in a row and developed arguably the best O line in Football in their prime? Not a sexy pick but we need help in the trenches!

If you don’t understand how important blue chip offensive tackles are in the NFL...you don’t know football 🤷🏻‍♂️ love the pick

Just no one wanted him @ #9, could had traded down and still got him. Look what Raider get for their #10 for team wanted QB Rosen

Come on Niners fans, let's stick together and stay faithful. God is on our side and we are going to KILL IT THIS YEAR! GO NINERS

BEAST💪🏻

Great Pick....
(Look @ his games against
Bradley Chubb😱👌🏻)

Brick by Brick
#GoNiners❤

i grade it D- Should've got Edmunds stupid pick lynch

idk, most twitter reaction ive seen shows the faithful lack faith in him

I think people are failing to realise the benefits of picking this guy. Offensive line is good but could be a lot better. Therefore Jimmy needs more time to adjust to plays and also give enough time/support to our WR. This guy will offer great protection for Jimmy G for years to come.

If I paid my QB 134 million after 5 games id wanna protect him too 😛 good pick tho.

One day, everyone hating this pick is going to eat their words. Lynch is building a roster and a culture. This dude fits it. Good job Lynch.

YES MATTHEW BUT THEY COULD HAVE WENT TO FREE AGENCY AN MISSED OUT ON A #1TACKLE THEY JUST DID NOT WANT TO PAY!!!! NOW THIS THANKS FOR TALKING NICE THE OTHERS HERE ARE TERRIBLE,!!!!

Too many red flags, 16 in. arms, braces on both knees !!! And playing Tackle !!!! Backup at best.
When has anyone from Norte Dame stood out ????

Anyone complaining obviously is a bandwagon fan and doesn't remember how many games Bethard got killed over and over again. Plus LAs D just got crazy good. Protecting Jimmy G is a must!!!

I think Lynch knows what he's doing. It wouldn't be the pick I would've made, but he hasn't let me down this far. I'll also be more okay with it depending on what happens mañana.

I dont see how anyone is arguing against this pick (besides maybe the hubris of a 6-10 team with two tackles and obvious holes in their defense adding a reach tackle at 9) tackles have become a limmitted comodity in the nfl, if they feel he's the right fit then no spot is too high. However, best case scenario is this guy starts. Very few rookie tackles perform well theor first year and the niners have two good tackles. They essentially either picked a depth player or a temporary down grade at one of their better position groups. Not exactly an instant impact move for a team hoping to compete this year in a loaded nfc. I can see why people aren't excited.

I like the pick I couldn't see us going defense 5-6 years in a row. we need to build that offense which will be the strength of our team. I remember the critics complaing about Mike Lupita and Anthony Davis and those picks laid a foundation that we rode all the way to a super bowl.

All of you calling for a defensive player don’t trust or have any faith in what we already have! We had a horrible stretch of injuries last year. We’re back, and it appears Foster is still in the mix. You’re also pissed because of the position and the name. I was thrown off too, but after hearing Lynch and Shannahan discuss this in their press conference I understand. Trust in the ones that are making these decisions, they know what they’re doing. We’ll steal the rest of the draft like we always do. Our GM and Coach are very intelligent. We getting that ring this year, trust in that

I’d like to see all O linemen drafted, but hey I’m not a pro. Solid pick now let’s just hope he’s healthy & can play the pro game!

Gone defensive with our picks before. Not sexy, very good pick. Captain at Norte Dame, Durable played in alot of games, Best graded Tackle, guy looks ready to throw people around. Don't invest in Jimmy G, then turn around and gamble in Free Agency or later rounds, that the #1 thing you can do to protect investment, us grab a sure physical, giant of a man, to protect the man. Every year after this, Niners will never have a Top Ten pick again, this was a chance to pick a Top graded Tackle, who'll okay for 10+ years, guarantee.

Love, love, love this pick! Oustanding!

Looking at Nelson's film this dude stood out, really wanted this dude and we got him. We were going to draft a guard with the 9th pick the whole time....

I thought it would be Davenport but the Tackle makes a whole lot of sense gooo miners.. lets get a NT or DT now

We got a guy of need and there is still a lot of good talent in thw draft hoping we land harold Landry, arden key, josh jackson... Courtland Sutton... Oliver.. Endless options hopefully we trade up in the second twice and get two early swcond round picks

Omg finally let's get a great O line and get back to throwing the ball and smashing it up the middle. Back to the 80's niners. I'm loving it

It's amazing to me how many of you think you know what's better for the Niners than Kyle and John. STOP IT!!!

Terrible pick! We don't need a tackle! We needed help at LB or a pass rusher! McGlinchey is going to let fast pass rushers run right by him! Terrible pick at 9!

I'm so dissapointed with this pick, should have traded back if this was our guy, so many better players still available that could have filled immediate holes, but we reach terribly for him ughh WTF john Lynch!!!

I'm skeptical about this pick, I feel that we could have bolstered the O Line in the later rounds and solidified the Secondary or LB core NOW! Well see!!

Jimmy G has been undefeated so far why are you guys doubting the team with 9-6 , 10-6 predictions ? Are you guys Rams fans or what?

Four tackles taken so far in first round, anyone who thinks we could have traded back are plain wrong.

Obviously you guys don't know football.... Joe Staley is getting older, we need a young mean tackle to protect Jimmy.

Better protect that qb investment....fn scrubs...their entire regime falls on the shoulders of Jimmy G

Good luck this new year. I hope and pray we beat Seattle. In Seattle. Tired of all the Seahawk fans rubbing it in my face.

Nooooo they aren't trading back in and they shouldn't they have two 2nd rounders and there's plenty of talent in this class the next 2 days. Plenty of offensive players are still there

Mike McGlinchey to SF. Offensive tackle. Tough, physical and can bend...but not quick enough to play left tackle imo.

People keep saying they should've traded back... The raiders wanted him.... They didn't know they would trade back

Smart choice for the immediate future.protect your main investment.i love how you are directing this organization to the promise land.Super Bowl were comming

I think a great 1st round (9th overall) I’m EXTREMELY happy. I may be a Wolverines fan, but this kid from Notre Dame is the real deal.

Keep rolling fellas. Personally I was hoping for a trade to get a few picks back in 2nd but happy with the pick for sure.

Its not who you want on the team they know what there doing. Thay got jimmy g!!! And look how we ended the season last year.

Let's go niners I'm planning to be at niners at chargers game late Sept just a 15 mins drive to stubhub center no bad seats around that soccer I mean football stadium lol

The dude we grabbed is the highest drafted offensive lineman in the modern draft era it said that's saying something

I'm very happy with the pick and can't wait for the season to start already!!!!!!!! Over excited bout this season

the draft is still going on why are they doing a conference right now? Other teams could be calling,

This is actually a good pick, probably not flashy but def what we needed. Gotta protect that investment

The picks on day 2 and 3 last year was awesome too lots of contributions from them hoping for more this year

So with our gm and head coach doing this, I guess they aren’t considering trading back into the 1st for anyone?

Stanley will b starting.... I heard they looking to make a trade with Brown.. Anybody else hear about that
