She is beautiful! How much does she weigh?

Why was she given up. So sad

Awww! She's very beautiful! I Pray that she will find her forever home& family soon! So sad! 😢🐾🐶❤💋

Introducing Cossette (4441), an 8 year old Dachshund/Spaniel, owner-surrender, rescued from the North Central Shelter in Los Angeles. Shelters are very scary places, especially for dogs that are mild mannered and sensitive like Cossette. Lucky for her, our local representative (Carola Delong) spotted her online, contacted SCDR for help, and obtained the go-ahead to pull her for us.

When Cossette arrived at her foster home, she was very shy. She needed a little time to process everything that had happened to her. Once those needs were met, she was a different dog. Happy, friendly, and affectionate are words that come to mind when we think about Cossette. She is always smiling. And she loved her “spa day” at the grooming shop. (They love her there too.) Next, Cossette went to Sunny Hills Animal Hospital and received lots of TLC along with a complete dental. (She lost a lot of rotten teeth.) It doesn’t stop her from being first in line at chow time. (see video).

From her foster mom, Vanessa Felone:
“Our beautiful foster Cossette (Coco) is doing 200% better. She is such a proper lady that loves to be loved by everyone including gentle children. Her favorite things to do are relax on her big foster siblings big bed, bathe in the sun, meet new friends, getting brushed and pet and off course EAT! (Soft foods only as she has lost most of her teeth) She is not a Barker and responds to her name and most simple commands (i.e. come, sit, go to bed) she is crate trained, potty-pad trained and doggy door trained. . . . . Although she is considered a senior, her personality seems like she is barely old enough to get her senior discount at Denny's and can finally get a place in an active senior community (if she were human that is😉).”

If you are interested in Cossette, contact <[email protected]>. An application and home check are required. ...

Thank you to the Valdez family for always being willing to go the extra mile when it comes to dachshund rescue. Vicky Valez contacted us yesterday about a senior dachshund found in Whittier. (He is currently listed on Pawboost.com.)We agreed to foster him for 10 days while we try to find his people, or we will find him a loving home when the 10 days are up. Either way, he is under SCDR's care and will receive the best.
Scarlett Valdez named him "Hamilton" (4451), and it suits him - he's a dignified gentleman, about 13 years old. However, he is currently putting up with the indignity of being poked and prodded at Sunny Hills Animal Hospital. He is receiving vaccines, a microchip, as well as pre-op blood work to make sure he's healthy and can undergo a dental. He wouldn't let us look at his teeth, and that can be a sign or a painful mouth. He also refused to eat hard kibble, but was happy to try some soft "Fresh Pet".
Here are some nice pictures of Hamilton (and Scarlett) taken early this morning. Thank you also to Aaron Valdez for transporting Hamilton to La Habra to get his rescue tag and then to Sunny Hills for medical care.

Thought you all would like some good news for a change -

Update on Bosley, the 2 year old chocolate dapple piebald that came to us from the Veterinary Emergency Clinic in Poway, CA, on June 18th with a femur broken in 3 places, and repaired by Dr. Black at Ambassador Veterinary Hospital in Long Beach.

It's been one month since Bosley joined the foster dogs at SCDR. Dr. Black took the cast off his leg two weeks ago, but one of the 3 pins he put in to hold the bones in place decided to slip out, so after another x-ray to see if the bone was knitting together, it was decided to remove the slipping pin entirely. Dr. Black put another cast on to keep everything stable.

Bosley loves his "potty breaks" twice a day. It is almost impossible to keep this "wild child" still. He is starting to feel really good and wants to run and jump, and play. Another month to go before that can happen.

In case anyone is curious, the bill for Bosley's veterinary care and surgery came out to over $1,800.00. Thanks to our generous fans and supporters, we were able to pay his bill.

Here is Bosley enjoying the sunshine this afternoon. (He got up on that chair by himself when my back was turned. Naughty boy!" Despite the cast, he is very agile. ...
