Walker Buehler strikes out eight, Max Muncy and Cody Bellinger hit homers as the #Dodgers take the series against the Padres! #LADetermined ...

Comment on Facebook

It looks like Buehler might be the real thing. Great win team

Remember when guys wanted this stud traded for trash like Gray and Darvish
And hind site 20-20 I wouldn't have done it either for Verlander too

Muncy has not been a long ball hitter...he hit 25 once in 2013 in the minors...and reached double-digits only once more (12) in the minors and not more than 3 in a season in the majors. But he has what...six so far?H He is a bit of an all-or- nothing guy, but hey...at least he's contributing what he can.

Great game, got lose that music though in the background of the recap. Doyers aren't a soft music team!

stay with the plan but i stildontikeroberts

Buehler is the real Deal. Kid can throw.

On a hot streak without Kershaw, Hill, and Ryu; who would have thought? GO DODGERS!

So glad we have a good young pitcher in this rotation and that we didn't give him up to get Yu last year. This is what we need!

It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish. Make the playoffs and then get hot. 💙

Great game today!!

Looking good 👍😎. Pitching & Offense coming around. Moving closer to 1st Place in the NL West ⚾️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸.

Yes.

You got us that series.. 😂

Way to go dodger blue

This young guy should be our #2 and woods should go back to using the windup

Great game guys, especially my fellow West Texan Muncy

Let's GO DODGERS All The Way⚾⚾⚾

Here we go Dodgers Here we Go 👏👏

Good game. Now that is 6 wins against Padres. 6-3 this year.

Dude Cedrick Kowalski HOT STREAK CONTINUES

Our next rookie of the Year, 3 years running.

He looks sharp.

That the way my Dodge play. 🔥 🔥

He on fire

Sharing now!

Prayers for Stephen McGuire to return home to his loved ones very soon.

Travis hey bud, not sure if you may have seen this man, be in the lookout bud. Safest of travels to you.

Shared . Praying 🙏🏻

Never should hike alone . 🙏🏻

Keep looking

He was journaling daily on Trail Journals.com but his last post was May 8 at Walker Pass.

🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Hope he is safe!!

5 days with no food. please find him.

Prayers!!😇Hopefully a snow bridge did not collapse like it did for Ranger Randy Morgenson. Be careful out there! I read the book The Last Season by Eric Blehm.
www.ericblehm.com/books/the-last-season

Hope he is found ok. You know!?? Thinking out loud here. But We never had missing hikers or hikers who died before this Permit date system thing started. Is it really worth people's lives? Its mis-leading people in way too early to be going through the Sierra. O

Hope he is found soon.

🙏🏻

News from the PCT page! A hiker reports seeing him on the 25th 25mi out from Reds Meadow well supplied & in good spirits. Perhaps his resupply plans changed on the fly. Hope the report is accurate and we see him in mammoth here shortly.

Prayers

Mark Ingersoll!!

Why do they hike alone?

Prayer for you Mr. McClure

Jolene Woehrle

Hope he's found soon

There is a photo of him with several other PCT hikers on Carson Pass Information Station’s FB page, taken yesterday. So, I’d say the chances he is not lost are pretty good.

My cousin who is also hiking the PCT was with him on 5/22. See his blog post www.postholer.com/journal/Pacific-Crest-Trail/2018/mgundry/2018-05-22/Day-51-Mather-Pass-/61830

What would you do if you saw a change in our alpine lakes? Have you noticed a change in the lakes you love to visit?

We are seeing new things happening in some of our alpine lakes, and researchers are trying to find out why we have changes in these pristine environments. Algae blooms are being noticed for the first time, and because these lakes are so remote we are looking for how this could be happening. Changes in alpine lake ecosystems can have large ramifications for the other plant and animal communities surrounding them. To find out more, see the comments below.

If you were to see a change in an alpine lake we would love to hear about it directly from you. We are seeing algal blooms occurring in our alpine lakes for the first time, and we know about them because of casual observations made in the past few years by hikers and by park staff. There is now a large-scale research study happening studying algal blooms in alpine lakes in our park, and your observations are wanted! Download the WATR2016 app from your app store on any smart device equipped with a camera, then take photos of the alpine lakes you visit and upload them into the app. For more detailed instructions, check out the app in any app store. Help out in this community science effort and help make a difference for our crown jewels of our National Parks, our alpine lakes!

Could start with chemical trails.

Has there been a corresponding rise in the temperature of these lakes?

Climate change? Isn't that why there is more algae blooms in the oceans?

People using soap to wash and washing clothing directly in streams and lakes is likely one culprit. We wear chemical sunscreen and insect repellent products while in the backcountry. Those things end up in the lakes. If the forest service were to study the behavior of PCT/JMT hikers this would make a lot of sense. Each year thousands of people head out on the trails. Many of them unfamiliar with LNT principles and blind to the impact they have on the ecosystems they are enjoying.

Interesting as are some of the comments. My question: Why should you expect the lakes to remain the same? The fact is, even when the public are whipped into hysteria claiming to do the right thing (I.e.- planting trees in our forests in the 1950' & 1960s), they will screw it up with untested, idealistic, guessing management that implements a simple strategy incorrectly as they did mismanaging stand density. LNT is the ideal for most and if people visit the Parks, they should appreciate them and help keep them clean. Others should stay out of the Parks or fired from the Park Service.

I have a question directly relating to Mr. Robert T.Heydenfeldt's comment. Change is inevitable. Have you done any research by way of core samples or other methods to determine the long term cycles of the alpine lakes in question? When I visited the USACE permafrost research tunnel, you can see numerous natural changes in the same area occurring over many thousands of years, as well as just a few hundred. I think understanding first, if there is a problem, would be the foundational requirement for assessing if there was a problem. Searching for the "why" of the change might be conducted very differently when presupposing a forethought conclusion.

Which lake is that?

I would recognize that climate change is stressing these environments. I live in the Central Valley below the Sierra, and it’s hard to miss the changes that have been happening for a long time.

Oh my...this takes me back nearly fifty years...my husband and I took a camping trip to Colorado and Wyoming in our Nissan Datsun truck, with a homemade wooden camper on the bed, that friends loaned us. It was a foot longer than the truck, and had windows in both sides and on the flap on the end. All of our food was stored in ice chests, along with dishes, pots and pans and our clothing, underneath our bed that was laid across boards spaced across the bed of the truck... the first night we were in Yellowstone National Park, camped along with other campers in tents and campers. We had just crawled into bed and pulled the quilts over us, when we heard snorting and snuffling at the foot of the bed. Remember, the camper was a foot longer than our truck, so there was that opening there. I raised my head to see what it was and looked right at a bear with his head inside, sniffing. We saw a lady in the camper next to us run out and pull her canopy down and bring chairs, etc. inside. On the other side, we saw a man haul all his children that were in tents, inside his camper. In the meantime, my husband and I just remained quiet, thinking whether or not throwing the quilts over the bear would save us, if he decided to climb up inside with us. He was as wide as the camper... after awhile, he climbed down, the man who got his kids inside shooed him off with a shovel, but not until after the bear stood up and roared at him, then shuffled off into the woods. We had a movie view through those big windows and watched the bear fool around, stand up and look around and toss a cooler around until he got it open and ate eggs someone had in it. The bear was wide enough that when he stood up at the end of a table, you couldn’t see the table. After getting back home a couple weeks later, we saw on the news that a grizzly was in the same area we were, and tried to get a young couple in a camper trailer, tearing up the door and outside walls, before rangers took care of it by either killing it or putting it to sleep, I can’t remember... we figure it was the same bear that had his head up in our truck sniffing around..

So completely out of touch. Zero desire to win, zero work ethic, clearly love being losers, every day is play day.
No one wants to engage in sharing time with you about what high school sports you or we played, what trivia we think this is, etc. You're the only one who thinks this is fun. Fans want to WIN.
Shut your gd, fat mouth and do nothing but work. And don't expect clapping or credit for that either until you reach western conference finals which under current leadership will never happen.

Entire team is a tax write off for ballmer. A bunch of children, yuk yuk yuk everything is a joke.
No wonder everyone with talent leaves and magically kicks a** when they do.

Please sell or move so la NBA fans have a local team again.

Good for them!

Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks

What does it take to rescue somebody from cold, swift, and dangerous water? Park staff spent three days training in swiftwater rescue procedures in Kings Canyon last week!

Remember, use caution around rivers - even if you don't intend to swim! Many river emergencies happen when visitors accidentally fall in to the water.

Thanks to Sierra Rescue for the training and the photos! ...

Why isn't kayaking allowed on the south fork of the kings river within the park?

I grew up camping in Kiings Canyoun Ntl Park. The Kings River is melted snow. It is so extremely cold and swift moving. A body will go numb quickly and can be swept awa.

Where are these pictures taken?... exactly

Some spate there Bill Ginn 😊

When I took this training in Cedar Grove in 2009 that water was horribly cold and I used a 3/2mm surfing wetsuit. I had rhinitis the whole time. The only time it stopped was when I got back in the water. When I got out though, my nose just ran and ran and ran with sinus headache and sneezing, but I did not catch a cold or get sick in any other way, fortunately. I was nearly the oldest student in the group at 58.

Great pictures, thanks!

My Sister fell in the Kings River when she was quite small and Mom who didn't swim and didn't like being in the water jumped in up to her chest and grabbed her and brought her to safety. Many years ago.

Love this place!

We just got back on Wednesday. We love this place ❤️❤️. Been coming here every year.

The Killer Kern claimed 14 lives last year. 🙁

Beautiful, and frighening to think how cold, and fast the water is. Your staff is da bomb! Have a great, safe season! Looks beautiful! 😍
