We quite enjoyed listening to a frog on our hike in the Wasatch Mountains today.

Whenever I hear Blue Jays it reminds me of mornings in the valley

Oh, I LOVE the cacophony of Stellar blue jays!!! That is the sound most likely to bring up a flood of memories about growing up backpacking with my family in Yosemite!! Also, my first job in 1979 was as a maid in Curry Village and the Jays would scream at you all day as you worked from one tent cabin to the next!! Ah...Good times!!!

Bird sounds, wind through the trees.....

Carrie, I know you know this sound, huh!!!

My favorite bird sound I only hear high up in Yosemite and Seqouia. I don't know what kind of bird it is though!

Wind blowing between trees and water running down a mountain stream

Love the sound of woodpeckers

Waves crashing on the beach ❤

"Pandora Pine?"
Sounds delicious!

Looks like a female. ♥

There’s your woodpecker Jodie Home.

We're expecting a busy holiday weekend! Arrive before mid-morning to avoid delays. We're also expecting showers and cool temperatures this weekend. Showers can lead to snow at higher elevations, lightning, and slick rock. Check the weather forecast at go.nps.gov/wxmap and road conditions by calling 209/372-0200 (then 1, 1).

If clouds move in while you are out—especially in areas near or above tree line—including popular summits like Sentinel Dome, Half Dome, Clouds Rest, and all peaks and ridges surrounding Tuolumne Meadows—be prepared to turn around and descend to lower elevation. With precipitation, areas of open granite can quickly become surprisingly slick and treacherous. Bring extra layers, including rain gear.

One last word of caution: Yosemite’s streams and rivers are swift and cold, and, with changing weather, they can rise unexpectedly. The best way to keep a safe distance from running water is to stay on the trail. ...

For those who can’t arrive early morning, is there a best time to arrive in the evening after traffic calms down? After 4pm? After 6pm?

I hope everyone practices good common sense!!

What are the chances Tuolumne Meadows campground will open before July 15th? !

I remember this place a lot!!! beautiful!!!

Looking forward to the better weather, and to revisit clouds rest.

The one thing i consistenly told visitors during my time in yosemite is never ever visit memorial day weekend. There was never any shortage of visitors any people who heeded my advice had much better experiences

Some of the trails are covered in running water!
Lol!

The weekend after memorial day is best. Before kids are out of school. Weather is good, falls are running....wildflowers blooming....💕

I am in the RedWoods.

Stop the major traffic bull crap. Walk or bike into the park... John Muir would not approve of all the roads and traffic.

My favorite park! 😊

Nice photo! Was it taken along Glacier Point Road?

See you in two weeks my beloved Yosemite!!

Make Yosemite great again...

Hello, Anyone knows where it’s located for hiking? Malibu???

Carpinteria

Going to Henry Coe

"And from the eastern boundary of this vast golden flower-bed rose the mighty Sierra, miles in height, and so gloriously colored and so radiant, it seemed not clothed with light but wholly composed of it, like the wall of some celestial city.... Then it seemed to me that the Sierra should be called, not the Nevada or Snowy Range, but the Range of Light. And after ten years of wandering and wondering in the heart of it, rejoicing in its glorious floods of light, the white beams of the morning streaming through the passes, the noonday radiance on the crystal rocks, the flush of the alpenglow, and the irised spray of countless waterfalls:
It still seems above all others the Range of Light."

Here's a photo of the hail coming down yesterday:

My son is a Ranger in Yosemite and I live in the Sierras. I'm heading into Yosemite first week of June. It has been our "church" since my boy was a little guy. John Muir had it right. "It still seems above all others the Range of Light."

Yosemite...God's holy presence abounds around all of his spectacular creation.

That was quite the storm today as we left Yosemite. Rain, lightning, and hail! :) But we saw a mama bear and 3 cubs, so that made the trip. :)

Que belleza y estar a qui es impresionante bueno para los que nos gusta la naturaleza.
Paty Coro Fernando Garcia gracias por la invitación 😂😂😂

One of the high lights in my life was hiking the high Sierra Camps. You start off at Tuolemme Meadows camp ground and hike to the next camp (only with reservations ahead of time). You stay in tent cabins. Breakfast and dinner is provided and for a fee they will provide a packed lunch. Then off to the next camp. Hikes are not guided so you are on your own to follow the John Muir trail. All the food provided is brought in by pack mules. It was a once in a lifetime glorious experience.

Yosemite spoilt our family on Tuesday

I love all of the Sierra's, they are magnificent majestic mountains... Even on the Big Pine side of the Eastern Sierra

A true poet. His words express things so beautifully.

I never tire of reading Muir's descriptions.

Very cool Yosemite National Park! Is Tioga rd currently open with the recent storm? We are currently driving from the coast and plan to go over Tioga pass to Bishop.

Let’s not forget his choice quotes about the rightful inhabitants of the valley.

And here are the bear:

Let us celebrate John Muir. And always Yosemite

John Muir is THE MAN!!!

...Muir had the vision, "ken" as it is known 😉

Epic!

Every word is true

Yes

5 more days!

I ♥️ Yosemite

Light <3

Loved The Yosemite. Thanks to Ella Ackerman for lending it to me.

Thomas! Did u get there?

This is like those pork barrel legislation cons that congress is fond of pulling. Prop 68 is one of those convoluted propositons that boasts about $200+ million going towards the state parks, but craftily neglects saying that Prop 68 is actually a $4 BILLION bond measure, of which only the $200+ is designated for state parks. It's actual title is "California Drought, Water, Parks, Climate, Coastal Protection and Outdoor Access for All Act of 2018". Wouldn't it be great if they designate an entire billion dollars to the state parks, but no, most goes elsewhere, for projects that could stand to be funded in different ways, or shelved completely.
.....We are already paying through our noses for the various water bonds already voted on, not to mention the TWO current ones--68, to be voted on in June, and an almost identical one to come up in November.
.....Please, California, don't take this, and other propositions at face value. Study them carefully before you decite voting for a $4 billion loan is worth the mere $217 they are offering the parks to get them off their backs. If it were all designated for maintaining and improving state and local parks, I'd vote for it in a flash, but not as it stands.

Stating that California's government as a WHOLE is totally corrupt is an inaccurate blanket statement.

If that were really true why does California have a budget surplus versus the Fed's 3/4 Of a TRILLION deficit projection according to the G.A.O. !

Be sure to vote!

Sit back, relax, and enjoy 15 seconds of the Merced River (at Superintendent's Bridge). ...

Blodget Canyon, Hamilton, MT

Can't wait to see it in about 2 weeks! <3 My happiest place on earth!

Dose anyone know if camp 4 is open

Vernal Fall in the rainstorm on Monday!

can you please give us 30 minutes of this? It's wonderful...

Thank you. Where is Superintendent’s Bridge?

Funny how running water and camp flames will mesmerize and lull the stress right out a person...

My husband, my self and our girls used to camp on this River. It is a beautiful area. Love our family time there. ⛺⛺⛺

It's been almost a year that I was there to do this. Waterfalls and streams were beautiful in 2017

Oh I miss Yosemite. Spent every Memorial Day weekend there from when I was a kid until I was 21 years old!!

Nothing like the sound of a river running 😍😍👍

I especially like the little tree sprouting up through the river! 🤪

Ok, this worked. Thank you, been a rough day

Can’t wait until June when I will be able to hear this for a week!

I had a campsite last year, just off the flowing river in Wawona Campground in Yosemite National Park. What a wonderful sound to fall to sleep too. Looking forward to a return trip.

I used to go swimming in that river.

Thank you for posting this!

haven't heard this beautiful sound since I moved from CA to MI 2 years ago. Thank you Merced River.......

Been there, walking along barefoot in the Fall...wondrous place..

Sean Crow we should go somewhere up north with these kinds of Rivers please

Could sit for a long time just listening to rushing water!

Loved putting my dusty feet in after a long treck

Tamia Schumann, doesn't this sound nice?
