Police are investigating after a woman was mauled to death by a pack of seven mixed dachshunds.

To say thanks to the women and men in uniform, the Central California SPCA is celebrating Memorial Day by offering free adoptions for all dogs and cats. Free adoptions are only available to members only of the military, active duty, reserve, or veterans of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard or National Guard. All interested adopters must present a photo ID, as well as one of the following forms of identification: Military ID, Dependent ID, DD-214 and Driver’s License, or NGB Form 22. Proper identification must be shown to receive a free adoption, no exceptions.

This adoption promotion runs from Saturday, May 26, thru Monday, May 28, 2018, and is applicable at our adoption center and all offsite locations. Each adoption includes a spay or neuter, Fresno city dog license (if applicable), vaccinations (DHPP, Rabies, and Bordetella), single dose of de-wormer for roundworms single topical dose of flea/tick preventative, free vet exam from our participating veterinary clinics, and microchip (free registration with email address).

This promotion is made possible by the support of the CCSPCA Board of Directors and the generosity of our donors and supporters.

Can we please get an update on jack the abused street dog that you rescued and put up for adoption last year? His story is still heavily shared on Facebook and so many would love to hear from his current family on how he is. After witnessing such cruelty and knowing he never got justice against the former owner, we need our happy ending update.

Let all the animals be adopted to fun and loving homes to work magic of heeling for them both.

Q: How long is the academy and what is involved?

A: The academy is 30-35 weeks long. California State Parks follows P.O.S.T. course curriculum of instructional blocks and includes additional Park Operations training. Upon completion of the academy, cadets are appointed into State Park Peace Officer classifications.
